The first step is already done.

You are on the widget page. Create a new one with a link, an email address and an API key, or reopen an existing one: the configuration changes, the code already on your site stays the same.

Step 1 of 3

Connect your Google business

No technical codes to look up: start from the link you already use to share your listing.
Open the right listing on Maps, press “Share” and paste the link here.
We use it only to manage the widget and, if needed, to send you the removal link.
Use a dedicated key restricted to Places API (New).
Checking which IP address to authorise on the key…

The key travels over HTTPS only, never appears in the generated code and is not stored in the browser. The BitHub service is free; any Google Maps Platform costs depend on your own account and usage.

A small exchange: to help us keep it free, please keep the “Reviews widget by BitHub” credit included in the widget and, if you find it useful, link to BitHub from your site.

Simpler than it looks

From your Google profile to your site in three steps

You do not need to know the Place ID and you do not need to change your site's backend. Follow the guides, choose the look and paste the code.

01

Share the Maps listing

Open your business on Google Maps, press “Share” and paste the link. The Business ID, that is the Google Place ID, is found by the service.

02

Create a dedicated key

Enable Places API (New), create a key and restrict its use to that API and to the IP address shown. The key never ends up in the widget code.

03

Paste two lines

After the preview you get a <div> and an async script. Paste them where you want the widget: we handle the rest.

Google reviews on your site

A widget that helps people, without complicating your site

Reviews help anyone weighing up a business to understand real experiences, perceived quality and reliability. The widget brings them close to the content and the actions that matter on your site, with a light and customisable integration.

In the right place

Put it near contact details, bookings, quotes or service descriptions, without burying the main content.

Consistent with your design

Adjust layout, colours and density. A readable section works better than a huge or intrusive carousel.

Transparent

Show author, date, stars and the link to write a review whenever they are useful in context.

Showing reviews on your own site does not guarantee stars in Google's organic results and does not replace a local SEO strategy. It is above all a trust signal that supports the decision.

Frequently asked questions

Before you start

How do I add Google reviews to my site?

Paste the Google Maps link of your business, connect a key restricted to Places API (New), configure the widget and copy the generated code into the part of your site where you want the reviews to appear.

Do I need to know the Google Place ID?

No. The ordinary Google Maps share link for your business listing is enough: the service finds the Place ID for you.

Is the BitHub Google reviews widget free?

The configurator and the BitHub widget are free. Google Maps Platform requires a project with billing enabled and may apply costs or limits depending on your account's plan and usage.

Does my Google API key end up in my site's code?

No. The key is sent to the service over HTTPS, it is not included in the embed code and it is not stored in the browser.

Can I customise the widget?

Yes. You can choose Slider, Grid, List or Rating and adjust filters, visible content, colours, border, shadow and corners.

Can I create two configurations for the same business?

No. Each Google Place ID can have only one active configuration. If the widget already exists you can reopen it with the old API key or with a single-use link sent to the registered email address, edit it and keep the same embed code.

Free, with a small credit

The next step is just a link.

Open Google Maps, copy your business listing and come back here. To support the service, keep the BitHub credit included in the widget.

Guide 1 · 1 minute

How to copy your business link

You do not have to find the Place ID. All you need is the ordinary share link for your Google Maps listing.

  1. 01
    Open Google Maps

Search for your business name and the town.

  2. 02
    Check the listing

Confirm the name and address, especially if similar locations exist.

  3. 03
    Press “Share”

On desktop or in the app, choose the option to share the listing.

  4. 04
    Copy and paste the link

A short link starting with maps.app.goo.gl works too.

How to create and protect your Google API key

The key lets the service read the public data of your business. Create a dedicated one, so you can control or revoke it without touching your other integrations.

  1. 01
    Open Google Cloud Console

Create a project or select one with billing enabled.

  2. 02
    Enable Places API (New)

In the API Library search for exactly “Places API (New)” and enable it.

  3. 03
    Create an API key

Open “APIs & Services” → “Credentials” → “Create credentials” → “API key”.

  4. 04
    Restrict the API

Under API restrictions authorise Places API (New) only.

  5. 05
    Restrict the application

If you choose “IP addresses”, enter: the current IP address shown in the configurator. Note: after a server change the IP address can change and new reviews will stop being fetched until you authorise the new one.

  6. 06
    Save and paste it here

Restrictions can take a few minutes to propagate.

Google Maps Platform requires a billing account. Check prices, credits, quotas and spending alerts in your Google account: the BitHub service is free, using the Google APIs may not be.

Guide 3 · last step

How to add the widget to your site

The code contains a container and an async script. Paste them together at the exact point where you want the reviews to appear.

  1. 01
    Copy the generated code

Use the “Copy code” button after saving the widget.

  2. 02
Open the page you want to edit

In WordPress use a custom HTML block; in other CMSs look for an “HTML”, “Code” or “Embed” block.

  3. 03
    Paste it unchanged

The <div> sets the position; the script loads the widget straight into the DOM.

  4. 04
    Publish and check

Open the page on mobile too and check spacing, contrast and scrolling.

If your CMS blocks scripts, ask whoever manages the site to add the code, or use the HTML fragment for a build-time integration.
